La elección primaria se ha terminado, por lo tanto, estoy muy agradecido y honrado de que los ciudadanos del Distrito 68 hayan votado por mí, para ser su representante demócrata. Y además contendiendo como candidato por primera vez, me siento orgulloso de haber recibido más del 58% de los votos.

Quiero aprovechar esta oportunidad para agradecer a todos los voluntarios y donantes que han dado su mejor esfuerzo para ayudar en esta campaña dirigida por la comunidad. En particular, quiero reconocer a mi equipo que se dedicó a trabajar incansablemente en los últimos 6 meses. Sin su ayuda, esta victoria no habría sido posible.

También quiero felicitar a mi oponente por ganar la nominación republicana. Pero a partir de mañana, yo sé que usted y yo estamos listos para salir y dejar que la gente buena del Distrito 68 conozca quien es el mejor candidato para éste puesto. Vamos a hacerles saber que la decisión para esta elección se encuentra decidida.

Para que ustedes tengan una opcion clara, quiero dar a conocer las diferencias que existen entre nosotros: Esta es una elección entre el liderazgo de la comunidad, contra políticos de carrera. Es una diferencia entre el sentido común de hacer política contra intereses propios y políticas equivocadas. Es una elección basada en resultados reales contra políticas de tribuna. Quiero trabajar fuerte para crear trabajos y no dar sobornos a corporativos y cortes de impuestos para los muy ricos, principalmente durante este tiempo de crisis económica en que nuestros hijos no pueden soportar más recortes a la educación.

He caminado por los vecindarios del Distrito 68 y tuve la oportunidad de escuchar y hablar con los residentes de todos los ámbitos sociales. Estoy conmovido por las historias acerca de cómo estos tiempos difíciles están afectando a la comunidad y de diferentes maneras. Hay muchas familias que viven de cheque en cheque. Y para otras, ya ni siquiera hay un ingreso regular. Y muchas más, se encuentran preocupadas acerca de cómo van hacer el pago de la hipoteca que viene. Y otras que tienen que decidir si comprar un seguro de salud o tener comida en la mesa.

¡Ha llegado el momento de tener líderes fuertes que se pondrán de pie por nuestros hijos y que están dispuestos a dirigir la lucha para las familias trabajadoras! Es el momento de tener líderes que entienden la lucha de la gente día tras día. Es el momento de elegir líderes que trabajarán duro para crear y traer nuevos puestos de trabajo a este distrito y para California.

Dear Friends,

 

The Primary election is now over.  I am grateful and honored that the citizens of the 68th District have voted for me to become their Democratic Nominee.  Being a first-time candidate, I am proud to have received over 58% of the votes.

 

I want to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers and donors who have given their best to help in this grassroots, community driven campaign.  In particular, I want to thank my dedicated staff for working tirelessly for the past 6 months.  Without your help, this victory wouldn’t have been possible.  
 
I also want to congratulate my opponent for winning the Republican nomination.  But starting tomorrow, I know that you and I are ready to go out there and let the good people of the 68th Assembly District know the striking differences between us.  We will let them know that the choice is clear.  
 
This is an election between community leadership vs. career politicians.  It is between common sense policy making vs. self-interested and misguided policies.  This is an election focusing on real results vs. political grandstanding.  This is an election between working hard to create jobs vs. giving corporate kickbacks and tax cuts to the very wealthy during this time of economic crisis, while our kids cannot endure further cuts to education.
 
I have walked our neighborhoods in the 68th District, and  I’ve had the opportunity to listen and to talk with residents from all walks of life.  I am touched by the stories about how these tough times are affecting so many of us and in so many different ways.  There are too many families living from paycheck to paycheck.  For many other families, there is no longer a regular income.  There are too many families worried about how to make the next mortgage payment.  There are too many families that have to decide whether to buy health insurance or have food on the table. 
 
It is time to have strong leaders who will stand up for our kids and are willing to lead the fight for working families.  It is time to have leaders who understand the people’s struggles day in and day out.  It is time to elect leaders who will work hard to create and bring back new jobs to this District and to California.

Nurses Cites Candidate’s Ability To Work With All to Find Solutions and Create Jobs 

Fountain Valley — California Nurses Association (CNA) has endorsed Phu Nguyen for 68th State Assembly.  California Nurses Association represents thousand of nurses in hospitals, clinics and home health agencies in Orange County.  CNA is the leading advocate of guaranteed healthcare by expanding and updating Medicare to cover all Americans.

California Professional Firefighters Endorses Phu Nguyen for 68th State Assembly

Costa Mesa – Vào trưa thứ năm, ngày 25, tháng 3, năm 2010, Liên Đoàn Giáo Viên California đã chính thức ủng hộ Phú Nguyễn vào chức vụ Dân Biểu Tiểu Bang Địa Hạt 68.  Nhắc đến sự ủng hộ của Phú đối với các trường công và lời hứa sẽ cố gắng để làm cho các trường học của chúng ta trở thành bậc nhất, bà Kimberly Claytor, Chủ Tịch Liên Đoàn Giáo Viên Newport Mesa, phát biểu như sau:  “Chúng tôi rất hãnh diện được làm việc với Ban Vận Động Tranh Cử Phú Nguyễn để biến giáo dục thành quan tâm hàng đầu của California.  Công ăn việc làm tốt đi đôi với giáo dục tốt.  Chúng ta không thể chỉ có một trong hai yếu tố đó mà thiếu đi yếu tố còn lại, và Phú Nguyễn hiểu được rằng con đường xây dựng lại tiểu bang bắt đầu bằng giáo dục.”

Ông Huy Trần, giáo viên thuộc Học Khu Trung Học Anaheim, nói, “Phú Nguyễn hiểu được tầm quan trọng của giáo dục đối với cộng đồng chúng ta.  Học khu của chúng tôi nói riêng đã phải cắt giảm hơn 60 triệu mỹ kim trong vòng ba năm qua, hậu quả là hàng trăm người bị nghỉ việc và lớp học ngày càng đông.  Việc giáo dục học sinh của chúng ta trở thành rất khó khăn trong hoàn cảnh như thế.   Nếu chúng ta cộng thêm việc học phí gia tăng tại các trường đại học, thì sẽ thấy giáo dục càng lúc càng trở thành đặc quyền của những người giàu.  Phú Nguyễn sẽ bảo vệ giáo dục và tranh đấu để tìm ngân sách và mở rộng con đường thành công cho con em chúng ta.  Đời sống và nền tảng dân chủ của xã hội chúng ta đang bị đe dọa và chúng ta nhất định phải đoàn kết để ủng hộ cuộc tranh cử của Phú Nguyễn.  Đó thật ra lo lắng cho tương lai của con em chúng ta.

California Federation of Teachers Endorse Pro-Education Candidate Phu Nguyen for 68th Assembly District

The California Federation of Teachers (CFT) has endorsed Phu Nguyen for the 68th State Assembly. Citing Phu’s strong support of public schools and pledge to find resources to make our schools great again, Newport Mesa Federation of Teachers President Kimberly Claytor, said, “We are proud to join together with Phu Nguyen’s campaign to make education California’s top priority. Good jobs are linked to a good education. You cannot have one without the other and Phu Nguyen understands that the road back for the Golden State begins with education.”

The CFT represents over 120,000 educational employees working at every level of the education system in California, from Head Start to the University of California.

Phu Nguyen responded. “I am so honored to have the CFT endorsement. I have visited many schools and know first hand how hard our teachers are working despite overcrowded classes, despite pay and benefits cuts, and despite devastating lay-offs. I have seen their professionalism and work ethic teaching our most precious resource, our children.
